Sherwood™ STD Tapping & Drilling Compound and Fluid

Sherwood® STD cutting compounds and fluids help cutting tools to cut smoothly and quickly. Sherwood® STD forms a coating over the tool and work piece that will allow swarf and cut chips of metal to be removed with less friction which extends the working life of the tool. Less effort is therefore required to cut even the hardest metal, the surface finish of the cut is improved and cutting times are reduced.

Formulated to be suitable for all types of steel and ceramics, even high tensile steels. Due to the active nature of the product there is a risk of staining if the product is used on some yellow metals.

It will not mix with water.
It can be removed with all common industrial degreasers and solvent cleaners.
It is suitable for use on steel, stainless steel, alloys, heat resisting metals, cast iron, aluminum and ceramic.
The formulation will not break down under extreme pressures.


Typical applications:

Hacksawing.
Apply to the hacksaw blade before and during the sawing operation. Suitable for use with power saws and handsaws.

Threading.
Apply to the die or tap prior to use and also during the operation. Take care if applying to moving parts. Suitable for both machine and hand operations. It is particularly recommended for pipe work where the risk of thread wall deformation during cutting is greatly reduced.

Drilling.
Apply during the drilling operation. It will increase drilling efficiency and prolong drill bit life. Take care near moving parts.
