Plasma arc welding (PAW) is an arc welding process similar to but more advance than the gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW) type. This process uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode and an arc constricted through a fine-bore copper nozzle. By positioning the electrode within the body of the torch, the plasma arc created can be seperated from the shielding gas envelope and forced through the nozzle at temperature to as high as 11,000°C. PAW can be used for most commercial metals and alloys.
